GRAHAM has long been one of the foremost galleries in American specializing in fine period sculpture, with figurative and animal bronzes a specialty. Whereas the painting department has focused on American artists, in three-dimensional work James Graham & Sons has shown both American and European sculpture from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. James R. Graham was a respected authority in this field and shared his vast technical expertise and connoisseurship in sculpture with Cameron M. Shay, who has furthered the gallery's prominence in this area since 1983. Under Shay's direction, GRAHAM is one of the few galleries in the United States where scholars and collectors can expect to find the museum quality work that has long been its specialty. The Gallery also represents a number of contemporary sculptors working in both bronze and directly carved stone.
