Press Release

James Graham & Sons is pleased to present recent paintings by David Fertig in an exhibition that mark's the artist's fifth solo exhibition with the gallery. The show will take place at 32 East 67th Street from January 8th through January 31st, 2009.

The recent body of work indicates a modified direction for the artist, as the focus is largely on 19th-century still lifes and interiors. The delicate and painterly renderings attest to the influence of artists such as Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Gustave Courbet. The still lifes are an homage to the work of Robert Kulicke, a dear friend of David's who passed away last year.

David Fertig was born in Philadelphia in 1946 and lives and works in New Jersey. He received his BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art and his MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. Fertig has exhibited his work nationally since 1977. Recent gallery exhibitions include Paul Thiebaud in San Francisco and the More Gallery in Philadelphia.
